A few blocks up from the public beach access on Scenic 83 is a trail entrance into the Point Washington State Forest. If you follow the trail back you’ll encounter thick Cypress swamps, towering stands of Longleaf Pine, and large fields of wildflowers in the Spring and Fall. From here you can also ride bikes to the art gallery of South Walton’s 2005 Artist of the Year, Justin Gaffrey. Even before you enter, you’ll catch glimpses of his unique style on full display.
